*NEWS* Mugabe tarnished the jewel that is Zimbabwe - British Foreign Secretary

Robert Mugabe tarnished the jewel that is Zimbabwe, now is its chance to shine again British Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson By Boris Johnson The most accurate description of Zimbabwe in the era of Robert Mugabe came from a fellow leader of the struggle against white rule. It was Samora Machel, then president of Mozambique and a fervent enemy of colonialism, who told Mugabe in 1980 that Zimbabwe was the “jewel of Africa,” adding: “Don’t tarnish it!” Machel was right – both in his tribute and his sense of foreboding. If you sat down and designed a country with glittering prospects, then you couldn’t do much better than Zimbabwe. This is a fertile land of immense scenic beauty, from the Eastern Highlands to the rugged bush of Matabeleland, with an abundance of natural resources, including prodigious quantities of diamonds and platinum. There is an educated population, plentiful wildlife and what were some of the best roads and railways in Africa. Throw all this togeth...

Zimbabwe Crisis: South Africa in talks to end stalemate Samuel Ogundipe 2 hours ago Zimbabwe Military take over (Photo Credit: BBC) Zimbabwe’s President Robert Mugabe is said to be holding a meeting with South African government officials who were sent by President Jacob Zuma to resolve the stalemate occasioned by military takeover on Wednesday. Zimbabwe’s Newsday reported that Mr. Mugabe’s convoy was seen Thursday afternoon moving from his ‘Blue Roof’ residence in Harare where he had been detained by the military since Wednesday to the State House. Mr. Mugabe  was pushed aside in the early hours of Wednesday  by military leaders, in what many see as a potential end to the 37-year-old rule. Mr. Mugabe, 93, had vowed to be in charge of the country until his death. But a recent decision to make his wife, Grace, the president of the southern African nation, prompted a military intervention Wednesday morning. Military leaders in uniform took over state broadcaster...

Still on the situation in Zimbabwe... Tsvangirai, war vets leader Mutsvangwa fly back home 'for negotiations'  58 minutes ago Harare – Zimbabwe's Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) leader Morgan Tsvangirai and war veterans leader Christopher Mutsvangwa reportedly flew back home from South Africa on Wednesday. According to the privately-owned  NewsDay newspaper, this came as reports indicated that both Tsvangirai and Mutsvangwa were "ready to enter negotiations to form a transitional government with former vice president Emmerson Mnangagwa". Tsvangirai and Mutsvangwa had both been in South Africa on different missions, the report said. The ATOM

When you hear the word “atom,” what occurs to you? If you’re familiar with chemistry or physics students when you were in secondary school (or, you’re still in secondary school yourself), or, in the alternative, you were/are a science student yourself, then, definitely the word “atom” shouldn’t be very un-familiar to you! All the same, for the sake of carrying-along all of our audience here on this blog, we wish to say that the word “atom” is simply that word that we use in the sciences, and particularly in physics, chemistry and biochemistry, to describe that “minutest” particle of “matter.” Remember that “matter” simply means “material” – whether in the solid state (e.g. your phone), or in the liquid state (e.g. your favourite drink), or in the gaseous (“gas”) state, (e.g. the breath of your nostrils!) “Matter” is that word that is used, in science, to refer to ‘everything’ that exists and can be felt, handled OR “experienced” and “encountered” in any manner, whatsoever, in this phys...
