WORDS OF POWER: THE INSTRUMENT OF MY MINISTRY
Every genuine minister of the gospel, has an instrument of ministry. For Kenneth Hagin, it was the ability to teach faith until faith would arise in your heart. For Billy Graham, it is the ability to use otherwise simple words to convey the powerful salvation of Christ to a listening soul. For T. L. Osborn, it is the ability to "work" miraculous things by simple faith in the CHRIST who is the same, yesterday, today, and forever. For Benson Idahosa, it was the ability to convey the magnificence of God in a glory of delivery that leaves you astounded. I could go on and on.
Over the years and decades, one thing, for sure, has stood clear to everyone who has the eyes to see and the heart to discern. And, that is the fact that Apostle Akinnola (by God's grace) carries POWER in his WORDS! He uses otherwise simple, regular scriptural verses that you're used to; but, apart from the fact that he has an unusual ability to bring new and fresh insights into those scriptures, he also has this unusually POWERFUL delivery, not necessarily by reason of the loudness of his voice (although he's sometimes loud), but by reason of an "invisible" loudness of his spirit as he delivers words that are as accurate as guided missiles into the very core of your being. Somebody described him as a minister who lays "block upon block" inside your heart, inside your spirit-man, as he delivers that uniqueness of a message that just "grows" on you and just "sits" on you like a well-tailored suit. Love him or hate him, he's someone you can NEVER ignore!
In the 1990's, I had a television programme, tagged WORDS OF POWER. Somebody described that programme as a "conduit pipe" of "LIFE" infusing the very essence of God into the society around all the places where that particular television frequency could be received.
Yes, I carry power, genuine power, godly power, in my WORDS. It's the instrument of my ministry. I've, by the grace of God, got more people saved, by merely speaking these words of power, than I have by asking them to pray the so-called "sinner's prayer." I have also, by God's grace, got more people healed of sicknesses and infirmities, by simply delivering these words of power from the pulpit, than I have by laying hands on them!
Once upon a time, a physiotherapist, whose husband is also a medical doctor, sat down in my meeting. I can't remember what I preached upon, but it definitely wasn't healing. She came out to testify (without anybody calling for testimonies) that a lump in her breast had disappeared.
I hardly call people out for testimonies. It's not just my style. Not that I don't do it at all, but it's not just common with me. Yet the miracles take place. I hardly advertise miracles, because I don't believe that that's what I'm called to do - - advertising miracles. I just preach the Word - - these WORDS OF POWER! And then, whatever miracles need to be done, get done. I hardly ask for testimonies, although I sometimes do.
On one of those few occasions when I asked people who had testimonies to come forward (although I had not preached on healing nor prayed for anybody), one of the many people that came out was a veterinary surgeon who claimed that a condition deep within his buttocks left him while I was preaching! THERE's POWER IN THE WORD! Another person, a little child, was brought forward by her father and the pastor (of another church) who had invited the man to that meeting. As I was preaching, they said, the little girl kept telling her father, "It's going all over me; it's going all over me; (the power) is going all over me!" She was completely delivered of the affliction!
